Sharon Donnelly South Derry Girls Football Championships 2025

Today was the final tournament of the year for our girls football team.
What a year these girls have had.
Today they played in the South Derry Sharon Donnelly Championships in Glen.
The girls played superbly in Division 1. They beat Glenview and Anahorish in the group stages, but lost to Mayogall and Kilrea.
The group ended with a 3 way tie. We faced Mayogall and Glenview in a playoff for second place in the group.
The games were tight, end to end football. Having been beaten by Mayogall in the group stage, the girls dug deep and created a goal opportunity to put them 1 point up to take the win.

Next up was Derrychrin. The girls started off well, point for point, goal for goal. 1 point was the difference at the final whistle for Derrychrin to progress to the final.
Holy Family girls have had a fantastic year of sport. Today wasn’t our day. The coaches are so proud of you all today and everyday this year that you have graced the pitches.
A massive thanks to Bronagh Mulholland and Watty Graham’s for hosting a fantastic tournament and to the referees and volunteers for making it a great day for all.
Thanks to all the teachers who have given up their time to coach the girls this season- Mrs Barton, Miss Cassidy, Frances, Mrs Johnston and Mrs McKay.
