Literacy – Literacy – reading and writing Choral poems, looking at onomatopoeia in poems, texts or passages. Researching information about healthy lifestyles and creating a tri-fold leaflet on MS Publisher. Looking at news reports from LNI news desk and identifying the 5 Ws of reporting. Writing a news report on a topical event. Identifying root words - dictionary work. Revision of Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives and Adverbs
Numeracy – number patterns and sequences (increasing and decreasing and identifying operations to use in solving for missing numbers), symmetry on a line (using mirrors and completing patterns/pictures), rotational symmetry (how many times shapes/patterns fit into outline), percentages (relating them to fractions and finding % of amount of money/number)
World Around Us – new topic called ‘Healthy Choices’ – identifying major organs of the body and their functions, testing breathing/heart rates and factors which influence them, identifying importance of bones/skeleton.
The Arts –
- creating an Activ8 rap (Music)
- dramatisation of Prodigal Son (Drama)
- symmetry pictures and moving skeleton models (Art)
PDMU – continuation of alcohol work, leading to drugs awareness (all medicines are drugs, not all drugs are medicines). Identifying prescription drugs and rules regarding their usage. Role play situations regarding peer pressure and illegal drug taking, resulting in an agreed ‘code of conduct’ if ever in these situations.
Religion – The Risen Jesus – through the story of Mary Magdalene’s encounter with the Risen Jesus, we reflect on the Church’s belief in the resurrection of Jesus, the story of the Prodigal Son (in script form to show the reconciling love of God for each one of them)

School closed for Easter on Thurs. 1st April @ 11am and re-opens Mon 12th April.
School closed Fri 30th April (staff training) and Mon 3rd May (Bank Holiday).
