Curriculum Content for June
Literacy
This month our Talking and Listening activities are related to our topics, The Farm and Measurement in Maths.
The children will participate in shared, guided and independent reading.
Children will be given opportunities this month to write for a variety of purposes to include list writing e.g. lists for summer plans, a postcard from the farm and descriptive writing will include memories of P3. Please encourage children to continue to learn their spellings each week and to listen to their reading every night.

Numeracy
In Numeracy we will be looking at the topic of Measurement, focusing on Area, Volume and Length. We will be estimating area and counting area using squared paper. Practically children will measure objects using paper clips, rods and cubes. They will compare lengths, tallest/shortest. In volume we will develop mathematical language to include more than, less than, greater volume and less volume.

World Around Us
In World Around us we will be learning about the Farm. We will study the seasonal changes on the Farm and how these create different jobs for the farmer. We will discuss safety on the farm and study the journey of milk from farm to home. The children will plan and build model farms during Activity based learning using construction material. Using photographs and posters we will observe how the farm has changed from long ago to today e.g. machinery.

Personal Development and Mutual Understanding (PDMU)
This month in circle time we will be discussing respect - how to respect the feelings and property of others. We will also discuss how to be a good team member during sports activities e.g. encouraging and supporting others.

P.E.
This term we will be developing our athletic skills in preparation for sports days. It is very important this month that the children are appropriately dressed for sports activities (especially footwear). Weather permitting we will be practising most days.

The Arts
In Art and Design we will be creating a summer frieze in small groups. Individually children will paint summer scenes for display.
We will be singing and listening to summer music.

Please continue to visit our website for all our recent news, dates and events.
