Admissions Criteria for Nursery
 
 
 


The Board of Governors will determine the Admissions Criteria. The criteria will be applied by the Board of Governors.

Admissions criteria to be used in the event of the school being oversubscribed. The criteria are listed in order of priority.
The statutory criteria set out in Section 3.5 [a] of Open Enrolment Admissions Information Booklet for Nursery Schools, will be applied to all valid applications received on the official application form by the closing date[12 noon]. The criteria will be applied according to the procedures detailed in Section 3.5.

In the event of the enrolment number being exceeded on the application of a statutory criterion the sub-criteria set out below will be applied in the order indicated.

1.  Children with brother[si /sister[sJ/half-brother[ si /sister[s] presently enrolled in Holy Family P.S.

2.  Children currently on the “At Risk” register maintained by the Magherafelt Trust.

3.  Children who, in the opinion of the Board of Governors, have special home circumstances considered in the following order.

[a] a child who has one or both parents deceased;
[b] a child whose parent/s has/have a serious long-term illness [medical evidence required] [ci children who are twins [or other multiple births I
[d] a child from a family of three or more pre-school age children.

4.  Children whose parent[sI/guardian[sJ is/are currently a permanent employee of the school.

5.  First child in the family.

6.  Only child in the family.

Criteria for children not in their final pre-school year

Should places remain after the application of the above criteria to children in their final pre-school year, places will be allocated strictly in accordance with chronological age beginning with the eldest child.

In the event of children with the same date of birth being considered for the final place the school’s sub­criteria will be applied.
