Holy Family Eco-Code Design Competition
Our Eco poster competition is completed and the Winner is Roseanna Mullan P7C. Her design will be used
as our school eco poste. Roseanna won a Landrover mountain bike courtesy of Landrover, our thanks to Landrover for this state of the art mountain bike.

Thanks must go to Ms Diamond who organised this project. The winner was announced at a special assembly. Mr Donnelly encouraged every child in the school to become eco warriors as they moved around the school, he encouraged them to switch off lights and any other appliances when unused. He also encouraged recycling at every opportunity. Mr Lambon, Principal of St. Mary's Grammar School and Mr John Murtagh Magherafelt District Council were both present as our eco work has linked us with both bodies. Mr Mc Auley, St Mary's Grammar School was our competition judge as he is the eco expert in St. Mary's.

Well done to all the boys and girls who entered the competition and congratulations to Roseanna.

The reason behind the poster is to remind us all to switch off unused appilances, lights and to recycle all
that we can as we do our bit for world conservation. We have set up our Eco Team. This team will monitor
how eco friendly we really are and take steps to ensure that we are focused on this issue.
They are hard at work monitoring energy usage and perhaps wasteage around the school.

A word from some eco warriors (P6B).......
Every week some of the ECO monitors go to KS1 and KS2 to see if classes can get more than 12 points in a
week for saving energy during lunchtimes!  We wear ID passes to show we are ECO monitors. We work at lunchtime….
We award
1 point if the lights are off in your room.
1 point if the computers are off.
1 point if you are not wasting heat in your classroom.
These all add up to a maximum total of 3 points per room. The monitors in P6B are Ciara Malcolm, Emma Mc Ateer, Monika Mockeviciute, Julia Kowolska Darragh Madden , Conor Mc Cann, Jack Lavery and  Cianan
Mc Cann.
